This past August, my son received an Autism Service Dog through 4 Paws for Ability. Through the process I was privileged to meet many other families (both online and in person).
Meet Anna MacConnell. A vibrant 11 year old girl who just happened to be deafblind, among other difficult health issues. Anna also had a 4 Paws for Ability service dog (Cadi) and I had the privilege of meeting a member of her family, Kristen. Kristen told me about Anna’s story and I immediately fell in love with this angel. I followed her story on Facebook. Sweet Anna passed away on September 1, 2012 after battling heart failure.
Since that time, Anna’s friends & family have come together to form Angels for Anna, Inc.
“We are an organization of individuals whose lives have been touched by Anna. We have been amazed by the distance over which Anna has touched lives. The fact that you are now reading this indicates she has entered your life, even if only in a small way.
Our primary goal is is to have the world “Do something nice, for someone else, every day.” This can be as simple as smiling at someone who looks like they have had a rough day, to holding a door open for someone heading into (or out of a building), or donating blood. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Start small and together we can work our way up.
Our fundraising efforts currently are centered on two organizations: 4 Paws for Ability andStarshine Children’s Hospice. Both of these programs “Did something nice” for Anna.”
Anna’s father asked me to help them with a website and of course I jumped at the chance. This project was close to my heart and the one I’m most proud of to date.
